Leadership Coaching Process
What is the leadership coaching process?
The process is one self-discovery and intentional change based on an ideal vision set by you, the leader. The recommended minimum time period is six months of coaching with one-hour sessions every two to three weeks. I have engaged with individual leaders for well over six months meeting on a regular basis to work on what is most important to him or her.
Sessions can be face-to-face, on the phone, or via video conferencing. A typical outline of a the six month process is:
- Session 1 (2 hours) – initial session to establish the relationship, path, goals, and agreements with your coach.
- Session 2 (1 hour) – with your coach you establish your vision as an ideal leader. Explore your life purpose, values, life/work balance, and strengths
- Session 3 (1 hour) – gather data on leadership strengths, skills, improvement areas, self-awareness, relationships, and build your learning agenda to attain your vision of an ideal leader.
- Sessions 4- ? (1 hour) – using the data collected; self-assessments, values, and goals, develop and experiment with new thoughts and behaviors to attain the vision. With your coach you continually measure success, work through challenges, adjust the plan, and set new goals,.
- Final Session (1-hour) – you make a plan for next steps and follow-on
The result: You develop into a confidant leader fully aware of your leadership abilities, with a clear vision, your leadership philosophy, and a growth plan.
